Once, They Were 7 Years Old
After recounting the plight of a homeless man, a prisoner doing life, and a 35-year-old female addict, author Harry Louis Williams asks, “What do they all have in common?” In his book Taking It to the Streets, he answers: “Once they were all seven years old.”
That hit me like a ton of bricks! We had just finished our first week of camp for 7, 8, 9, and 10-year-olds. It was awesome to see children that young commit their lives to Jesus Christ. It was exciting to hear them sing with gusto, “I am a promise! I am a possibility!” It was thrilling to see them being trained to be peacemakers. And it was NEEDED!
There was no doubt that God was anointing and blessing the camp. I wish you were there to hear everyone rap with all of their hearts:
Peacemaker, peacemaker, wanna be a peacemaker!
Trouble maker, trouble maker, won’t be a trouble maker
Way maker, way maker, Jesus is a way maker
Peacemaker, peacemaker, wanna be a peacemaker
